Sintered silicon carbide (sic) ceramic material is used for engineering components where high strength is required. SSiC can be machined to very tight tolerances and a very high degree of polishing is obtainable. Sintered Silicon Carbide also exhibits an unusually high thermal conductivity while at the same time offering low thermal expansion characteristics.
